I haven't watched the video as I am at college but your headline is a little misleading. They are starting to charge subscribers but the game isn't going to die. Even if it does it will be reborn when 2.0 is released. Every person who bought the PC copy will be upgraded and given 30 days free again in Nov 2012. So again maybe you should change it to: The Imminent Death and Rebirth of FFXIV.

Wagram, maybe you should watch the video to understand the name of the title instead of making assumptions

Escept he does think it's going to die, completely. Dead and buried. Kaput. Snuffed out.

A man who doesn't know what he's talking about, talking up the death of a game he definitely hasn't played and based on information that's six months out of date! Ridiculous sensationalist headline with no basis in reality. I like to make stuff up too! How about this.... gamrTV Weekly is an uniformed, garbage, jumping-on-bandwagon, sensationalist waste of 5 minutes of your life. You're the Fox News of gaming. (Good job!)

All in all the video isn't bad, but the headline and the part about FFXIV show a serious lack of competence. There's no indication that the game is going to "die" (and headlines like this are just attention whoring anyway), most of the people that play it now went through periods in which the game was much worse than it is now, and there were plenty free to play alternatives. Now the game is doing a ton better quality wise, and most people will stay. Those that will quit will be back when 2.0 will hit, alongside with a lot of other people, without even counting those brought in by the PS3 release. To put it down simply, your whole "analysis" doesn't have ground to stand on, and it shows that you have no idea of the current state of the game and it's community. In that case it's always better not to talk about something you don't know about. Also, comparing league of legends to MMORPGs is ridiculous.

Normally i do not feed the trolls but the zoo keeper gave me extra snacks so here goes nothing. What you have to understand is the state of mmo market is not looking good for p2p models and the fact there are so many better mmo's to spend money on it's not looking good ff14 which already has dwindling player base as it is. As far as the ps3 argument if it didn't work DCUO I do not see it working for this. Rant Over

The marketplace is pushing for free to play, and buy content later model. Due to the low barriers of entry, things are being forced in that direction. Exceptions would be the likes of the Star Wars franchise, and other known IP. But, if you are just trying to break in, you have to do free to play initially, because the overabundance of content calls for it.

i'm more impressed with you every wk Mr. editor and chief. you should start playing games in the TV behind you as you talk. maybe a game VGC is promoting on the site! this online pass was a mistake from the start. the future isn't bright for the online pass. MvC will be block buster. with wright and nova. i've seen the gamepaly for wright and i think it fist him well. i could careless about FF14. your right it will die. its not worth it. the 3ds JRPG sounds awesume mainly since i can't say it 10 times fast. free to play MMO'S is awesume. who doesn't love free? pay to play is only good when it's an MMO you want to play and don't mind giving up the money to pay for it. noo MMO is truly free to play cause you'll have to buy something in the end but its a cool idea that draws people in, and as they've become fans of the game they don't mind buying things every once in a while.
